Coal mills and coal crushers at coal fired power plants are operating under severe conditions involving dust and high temperatures. The oil in gearboxes is polluted with coal dust, and high ISO classes can often be observed. This makes the oil degrade as viscosity and TAN values increase and the forming of oil degradation products accelerates. In addition, micro pitting is a typical effect of particle contamination.
Normally, an annual oil change must be carried out if the oil is not filtered through a CJC™ Offline Fine Filter. In coal mills and coal crushers, the installation of CJC™ Fine Filter HDU 15/25 or CJC™ Finer Filter HDU 27/- will solve the problems, reducing the ISO class of the oil considerably, leading to a smooth operation with clean oil. On top of this, the annual oil change is no longer relevant, and protection of the environment is an extra bonus.
The CJC™ Fine Filters are offline oil filters with a very large surface area that gives a very high dirt holding capacity. By means of polar attraction the cellulose filter material will remove oil degradation products, leading to clean oil and reduced maintenance costs.
