Contamination sources in such plants are varied. Roll-mill cooling processes use great volumes of water, resulting in water ingress in bearing lubrication oil. Hydraulic systems located close to ovens are exposed to heat that leads to oil degradation products and particles. Hydraulic and lubrication oils in handling and transport systems are contaminated by particles, water and oil oxidation.
