We all know how CJC™ is a leader in the Wind Industry. But another renewable resource needs our filters. - A recent article in Hydro Review Magazine features C.C.JENSEN as a clean oil provider !
Clean oil is emerging as a vital issue in the hydro power industry. In recent years, a push has been made in North America to upgrade governor control systems to newer and more sophisticated digital governors. With this change has come the need for cleaner oil. In particular, varnish has been a “sticky” problem for these systems. CJC™ has proven to be a solid solution.
In 2001, C.C.JENSEN, Inc. began working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This governmental agency owns and operates dozens of hydro power stations across the United States. The largest facility in their system is Chief Joseph Dam and it is located 5 hours Northeast of Seattle, Washington. With an output of 2,620 MW, Chief Joseph Dam is the second largest hydropower plant in the US. The project purchased 3 systems initially. Based upon the positive results there, we have currently supplied 78 filter systems throughout the United States to their facilities.
In November of this year, John Micetic, Chemist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, wrote a feature article entitled “Corps’ Experience with Operating Hydro Turbines with New-Generation Oils”. In the 7-page article, Mr. Micetic underscores the need to upgrade filtration. The article highlights C.C.JENSEN as a key player in this upgrade solution. There is a picture of one of our filter included in the article.
The conclusion of the article draws this positive endorsement for CJC™:
“The Corps recommends making a one-time investment at its hydro plants to upgrade equipment and contamination control practices, including: Adding to each governor sump a dedicated offline, low-flow, depth-type absorbent-type filter. Adding properly sized similar type off-line filter to the main oil storage tanks”
