tugs – thruster
Whether your tug is equipped with thrusters, Azimuth or Voith Schneider, they are your propulsion system. Ensuring reliable propulsion can only be achieved if your thrusters are working.
The propeller control systems, propeller seals, bearings and gears are at risk of being damaged if hydraulic and lubrication oil is not kept free from seawater, particles and oxidation residues. Water ingress happens through propeller seals due to wear, damage of seals, and movement of the shaft. Seawater causes failure of lubrication, corrosion, and increases wear rate on bearings and gears. If the thrusters are not working, then you lose charter and risk docking and costly repairs.
Benefits, installing CJC® Oil Filters
- Protect your investment
- Avoid loss of charter
- Optimise efficiency of the tug
- Reduce risk of costly thruster repairs
- Reduced maintenance costs
When you install a CJC® Solution on your thruster oil systems, you get an oil filter with excellent water, dirt and oxidation removal capacities, and the highest dirt holding capacity. This gives you cost savings and better reliability of the thruster and a high reliability of your tug.
Technically, CJC® is known for keeping oil dry, clean, and without oxidation residues, which is documented over many years and in several tug thruster installations. CJC® Solutions are installed with many shipowners worldwide.
When you choose CJC® Oil Filters, you ensure a long lifetime of the thruster, reduce maintenance and you avoid unplanned breakdowns. You can even monitor the condition of your system using the Oil Contamination Monitor.
For thruster systems on tugs, you can select between these solutions:
- CJC® Filter Separator, PTU
- CJC® Fine Filter, HDU
- CJC®Desorber/Filter Combi Unit
- with or without CJC® Oil Condition Monitor, OCM15
The CJC® System solutions fit all sizes and types of thrusters, and we deliver globally where required. In close co-operation with technical organizations, we help select the correct solution depending on system type and conditions in the environment.
